BELFAST COMMUNITY YOGA

We believe that everyone should have access to practices that support their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.

We know that wellness spaces like yoga studios can offer these practices to individuals and communities. We also know that these spaces are inaccessible to the majority of people due to current systems of power and privilege.

Belfast Community Yoga was founded to help bridge the gap between existing wellness spaces and the wider community.

We do this by working alongside community partners to co-create yoga and mindfulness programmes that are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to community needs.

Within wellness spaces, we also hope to shift the conversation about yoga from its current focus on self care, to one that also includes community care.

We are thrilled to have received funding from The National Lottery to deliver a pilot project offering yoga programmes in partnership with a number of community groups in Belfast. Through this project, we’ll share practical tools and resources for resilience, self-care, and wellbeing through the framework of yoga, movement, and mindfulness.

Belfast Community Yoga is co-led and nurtured by Ally Armstrong, Maggie McKeever, and Susan McEwen. For more information, email us at belfastcommunityyoga@gmail.com.
